Following up on the 2025 State Attendance Guide, this session will bring together members of the State Chronic Absence Working Group led by the California Department of Education as well as local educational leaders to review our latest chronic absenteeism data and reflect on what we might learn from “bright spot” districts and schools who have been able to bring chronic absenteeism rates down and improve student outcomes over the past few years. Join our discussion as we navigate the current attendance landscape and reflect on what we have learned about family engagement, using real-time attendance data, and creating cross-functional school teams to help bring students back to school.
