The objective of this workshop is to share first-hand accounts and experiences of a special educator from one California Unified School District that is currently writing and evaluating the progress of Indicator 5A. Our goal is to share professional experiences and allow educators from across the state to share their experiences, while attempting to answer the question, “How do we ensure that all students have a fair chance at academic success?” This is an important question because from a general ed point of view, the gen ed students are impacted when behaviors of fully included special ed students are not supported. One can then argue that because of this, they (i.e., special ed students) are not accessing their resources to the fullest. Ultimately impacting both general ed and special ed students. With this in mind, “Who wins?”  Therefore, the objective of this workshop is to share first-hand accounts and experiences of a special educator from one California Unified School District that is currently writing and evaluating the progress of Indicator 5A.
