Have you ever noticed that the rows and columns in the 5×5 tables on the California Dashboard are not displayed to scale? Row heights and column widths can obscure meaningful differences in performance. This session goes beyond the Dashboard color and standard 5×5 tables to introduce scaled visualizations for each indicator. These enhanced displays represent data for California districts, schools, and student groups in a way that more accurately reflects variation in performance.By examining these visualizations, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how student groups are performing and where disparities exist. Participants will leave with strategies to use scaled visualizations in their own data conversations.More importantly, this approach shifts the conversation from “What does the data show?” to “How will we respond to the data?”Link to 2025  Scaled 5x5 tool. With the release of the 2026 Dashboard in October, the scaled 5x5 tool will be updated for presenting at the CERA conference in November.
