Students in foster care are more likely to experience school mobility. During the 2023–24 school year, 30% of students in foster care moved schools midyear—a rate much higher than the general student population (6%). In this session, we will present the latest findings examining the relationship between school mobility and student outcomes before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. We will also discuss how counties, including education, child welfare, probation, and community-based organizations, work to address school mobility, and highlight local innovative partnerships.
